Tuition for the 2008 Global Young Leaders Summit (GYLS) is $4,840 for United States residents and $4,090 for scholars living outside the United States. Tuition includes all housing, transportation while at the Summit, program materials and two meals per day. For U.S. scholars, tuition also includes air transportation to and from the United States gateway city to the Summit location. Scholars will need money for incidentals (phone calls, snacks, etc.).
Fundraising
The Congressional Youth Leadership Council (CYLC) makes every effort to assist scholars with gathering funds for part or all of their tuition through fundraising and scholarships.
If you require financial assistance, CYLC has prepared a special Fundraising Guide [PDF, 178K] to help you raise the necessary funds within your community. In addition, the Office of Admissions is available to support you in your fundraising efforts.

Scholarship Application
The Congressional Youth Leadership Council Foundation has established a scholarship fund to provide financial assistance to qualified nominees. The Foundation awards a limited number of partial and full scholarships based on financial need, scholastic merit, leadership achievements and other factors.
The scholarship application deadline for the summer 2008 GYLS has passed. It is too late to apply for a scholarship.
In the event that you are preliminarily granted an award, your notification letter will ask you to finalize the award through submitting a copy of your 2006 federal income tax form (from the individual who claimed you as a dependent). This is IRS Form 1040 or 1040A for US residents. The federal income tax form serves as proof of financial need as indicated upon the applicant's Scholarship Application. The Congressional Youth Leadership Council cannot grant any scholarship money without receiving sufficient proof of income. If you have questions, please contact the Office of Admissions.
Scholarship applicants should expect e-mail notification of the review results within two weeks of the scholarship deadline. Scholarship applicants who did not provide an operable e-mail address will receive their review results by mail shortly thereafter.
