NYLC's setting in the heart of our nation's capital provides the opportunity for students to become "part of" current events and issues. As our students meet with the men and women who shape laws and policies, leaders in business, elected officials, Cabinet secretaries, journalists and academics, they gain a valuable inside perspective on issues facing our nation, and begin to form their own leadership development plan for success in the future.
NYLC is a dynamic, compelling and inspiring program featuring creative decision-making simulations that challenge today's young leaders as they analyze important leadership concepts, solve real-time problems and lead their peers through role-playing exercises in an energy-charged environment outside the traditional classroom experience.
Hear the benefits of attending the National Young Leaders Conference (NYLC) directly from Alumni and Faculty Advisors who have experienced the Conference.
Each session of the National Young Leaders Conference is designed to educate, inspire and motivate students by giving them the confidence and leadership skills that they put to work at the program, and immediately upon their return home and to school. Students who wish to extend their NYLC experience in Washington, D.C. by 3-days can take part in our College Tour Add-On.
The NYLC curriculum was developed by Dr. Marguerite C. Regan, a former high school teacher and social science department chairperson with a doctorate in political science from Purdue University. Dr. Regan has been involved in the creation and development of innovative educational curricula and programs for over 30 years. Under Dr. Regan's direction, the curriculum provides a unique approach to leadership training.
