The National Young Leaders State Conference (NYLSC) is sponsored by the Congressional Youth Leadership Council (CYLC), an independent educational organization dedicated to identifying and nurturing leadership. CYLC is not affiliated with any political party or the federal government. Now in its 25th year, its mission is to "foster and inspire young people to achieve their full leadership potential."
NYLSC challenges each scholar to step forward with conviction and confidence, to grasp the concepts of leadership and to act upon his/her dreams of making a difference in their community. With the insight and guidance of highly trained facilitators and the assistance of their peers, scholars work within each activity to hone their plan of personal leadership.
The core leadership power tools are communication, conflict resolution, decision making, goal setting, group dynamics, leadership techniques, project management, self awareness and appreciating diversity.
NYLSC scholars strengthen the skills they need to succeed in school and gain new perspective on how they view their role as leaders in their communities, leaving the conference well-equipped to begin their journey.
