The National Young Leaders State Conference (NYLSC) is seeking highly-motivated staff to facilitate a series of four-day conferences for its fall cycle. NYLSC is a unique, life-changing experience specifically geared toward 8th and 9th grade scholars readying for this critical phase in their life. The intense four-day curriculum focuses on eight core leadership traits.
Those traits are:

communication (highlighting both interpersonal and presentation skills),
-
conflict resolution,
-
decision making,
-
appreciating diversity,
-
goal setting,
-
group dynamics,
-
leadership techniques, and
-
project management
Team members will be responsible for providing the best experience possible for all participants of the conference. This will include facilitating all educational curricula for the conference and interacting with and supervising young people to provide for their safety and well-being. This is a residential position for Wednesday through Saturday evenings in which extensive travel will be required.
Responsibilities Include:
- Co-supervise group of 24 eighth or ninth grade honor students
- Facilitate small group meetings on assigned leadership traits
- Facilitate small group meetings of reflection and application of leadership traits
- Be responsible for the dissemination of the educational content of the program as directed
- Be knowledgeable of all policies and rules and assist in their enforcement
- Provide supervision and assistance in residence at the program site as assigned
- Prepare students for each day's activities through informational sessions
- Work closely, cooperatively and amicably with all staff members
- Attend all staff training sessions and meetings as directed
- Travel extensively
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree
- High energy level and willingness to work extended days and hours
- Prior teaching experience (secondary or middle school level preferred)
- Strong knowledge of leadership theory and adolescent development
- Ability to reside at the Conference site for assigned sessions

*Applicants may preference a particular track, but conference management will place all faculty advisors according to need. Date conflicts should be made known to conference management at time of interview.

Compensation:
- Pay is $80 per training day
- Pay is $125 per Conference day (Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday)
- Per diem of $22 for Wednesday dinner at $22 for Sunday dinner is provided for travel days to/from Conference
- All meals between Thursday lunch breakfastand Sunday lunch are provided
- Travel to/from training in Tysons Corner, Virginia and to/from Conference location is provided
- Housing with roommate is provided Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings of session
